Abstract

The decentralization of corporate attorneys into the operating units, giving them close involvement in planning and decision making, makes for better usage of their expertise. Lawyers report to the management of their units while maintaining a dotted-line relationship to corporate headquarters. In this way they are able to influence decisions rather than being forced to react to proposals and decisions already far along in implementation.
