Abstract

Due to a rise in life expectancy and a decline in the birth rate, the proportion of the ageing population in Europe has been on the rise. But this ageing population has had a negative effect on the European economy and corporations. Though several European governments have initiated measures to address the problem, there were economic challenges to be dealt with. The case study promotes an understanding of the causes and effects of Europe''s ageing population, and the various corrective measures taken by several European governments. The case triggers a discussion on the efficacy of the measures already taken and the merits of alternative measures suggested by various experts. A structured assignment ''205-023-4'' is available to accompany this case.
