Abstract
The managing partner of RLG International Inc, a privately owned management consulting firm, must decide what changes the firm should make and what his future role should be. The firm was going through turbulent times due to an increase of new firms competing with RLG and partially due to pressures put on the consulting industry as a whole. Two of the largest consulting firms in the world were laying off staff and reports suggest the industry will shrink by 50 per cent. The company is at a crossroads, and future options are unclear. The managing partner must quickly decide what to do to survive. This case asks students to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the firm, identify potential causes of its evident problems, and decide what to do about a significant interpersonal rift that has developed between two partners.
