Abstract
SINA is a leading Internet portal for all Chinese-speaking communities around the world. With usage of the Internet booming, China seemed set to overtake the US as the country with the largest on-line audience. SINA''s aim was to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the Chinese Internet market and one day become the Yahoo of China. This case study encourages discussion of the growth strategies employed by SINA to become a leading Chinese Internet portal. It also facilitates an understanding of the combative strategies employed by SINA against its competitors, Sohu and NetEase.
