Abstract

The main focus of this case is the organisational structure of a procurement department. In order to apply organisational theory on a company in the phase of restructuring, students are required to identify appropriate organisational alternatives and decision criteria and the tasks and capabilities tesa should possess in different procurement areas. Apart from designing a new organisational structure for the company, students are required to quantify saving potentials. They should identify the relevant levers from the case and estimate the resulting cost reductions. Both aspects will enhance students' understanding of companies' restructuring efforts and contribute to their education and future career.
