The case study takes place at SIG Combibloc, the second biggest packaging technology group worldwide for aseptic packages for food and beverages. It presents SIG Combibloc?s corporate structure with special regard to the supply chain related departments and processes. The story evolves around the Head of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Theodore Streng, at SIG Combibloc. At the end of 2002 a benchmark report, comparing SIG Combibloc to its main competitor Tetra Pak, was released. It shows the shortcomings of SIG Combibloc within the SCM especially concerning the speed of implementation of new printing designs and lead times. A teaching note supplement ''605-025-9'' is available to accompany the teaching note.
