Abstract

In two articles published previously in the Sloan Management Review, the author described the process of ''logical incrementalism'' for strategic planning and how it is used effectively in several large corporations. This third and final article in the series analyzes this approach to management - a sort of purposeful ''muddling'' - in greater detail, delineating the steps which successful managers generally follow in inaugurating and executing strategic change.
