Abstract

The British Columbia Haisla First Nation created the Haisla Business Development Corporation (HBDC) in order to promote economic independence for the Haisla band members through the sustainable use of natural resources under their control. The HBDC is not yet fully incorporated and has been presented with an opportunity to establish a wood fuel pellet manufacturing facility in Kitimat, British Columbia. Students must determine the conditions under which such an investment would be profitable.
