In the past, the company had followed the merger and acquisition route to growth. The case provides the scope for readers to strategise alternative paths towards growth. This case gives a detailed note on SABMiller and the global beer industry trends, having a bearing on the future of the industry, the case then discusses in detail the operational issues of the company in various markets. The issues covered are: (1) size of the beer market; (2) per capita consumption of beer in various markets; (3) growth prospect in these markets; (4) competition; (5) SABMiller''s market in terms of volume and value; (6) profitability of the company; (7) manufacturing facilities available; and (8) logistics and distribution channels etc. After considering the above-mentioned operational issues and trends in the global beer market, the reader can develop different strategies of their own for sustaining the growth.
