Abstract
This case traces the transformation of the Swiss Re Americas Division from 2000-2004. In 2000, a Swiss expatriot, Andreas Beerli, took on the Chief Executive Officer role in the Division, restructured the management team, created alignment around a new strategy and operating model, and revitalised the business. Performance changes are clearly shown in the case in both the financial performance of the division and in softer measures such as organisational culture.
