Abstract
This is the second of a two-case series (IMD-3-1589 and IMD-3-1590). The follow up case of the Dexia BIL People Challenge presents the solution to the task faced by Christian Scharff - 8% reduction in the overall headcount. It discusses the specific nine measures that were selected and the impact of each. The case illustrates how innovative human resources solutions to strategic challenges such as workforce reduction can strengthen employee morale and enhance a company''s reputation - thus building a foundation for competitive advantage.
