This is a French translation of the case ''506-181-1''. The Moulin Rouge is the legendary music hall Cabaret, portrayed by world-renowned painters and projected on the silver screen. It has become the very symbol of Paris nightlife and is today almost as famous worldwide as the Eiffel Tower. The Moulin rouge case presents the causes leading to the Cabaret''s bankruptcy in 1997. It deals with the commercial, marketing and financial strategies to turn the firm around. The case study begins with a detailed history of the Cabaret''s success. Students progressively discover the elements explaining the company''s difficulties, some of which are explained further in the case study appendices. The appendices give precise information on the services proposed by the firm Bal du Moulin Rouge, its commercial activity, statistics on tourism and the company''s financial position. The teaching note presents a way to discuss the case in the classroom, providing complementary information on the Moulin Rouge and various technical notes.
