Abstract
When a major for-profit US hospital corporation proposes to buy a prominent psychiatric hospital owned, at that point, by a non-profit hospital, the medical staff becomes alarmed. A prominent medical school, whose relationship to the psychiatric hospital is crucial to its level of service and prestige, must decide whether the hospital''s traditions will be compromised if it passes into private hands.
