Housing prices are growing at a high rate, so many city-dwellers are seriously considering the option of buying some real estate in metropolises'' suburbs as an alternative to an apartment in the city. The country real estate market of the St Petersburg and Leningrad oblasts is now on the rise. In 2005 construction companies decided to build middle class cottage communities as they have gained popularity with a wide range of buyers. Though the experts consider the middle class country real estate market attractive, the present day situation concerning such projects makes one sceptical about the effectiveness of the real estate developers'' marketing activity.
