Abstract
This case is part of a collection designed to expand the use of case teaching and to assist both new and experienced case teachers. While the focus of this case is on teaching international affairs, the subject of the case is teaching itself. It tells a story of a specific classroom incident which challenged a case teachers approach - and of how the challenge was handled. It provides a vehicle for considering issues of authority, responsibility, strategy, and leadership in discussion teaching as well as for examining the critical details of the classroom interaction.
