While the focus of this case is on teaching international affairs, the subject of the case is teaching itself. It tells a story of a specific classroom incident which challenged a case teachers approach - and of how the challenge was handled. It provides a vehicle for considering issues of authority, responsibility, strategy, and leadership in discussion teaching as well as for examining the critical details of the classroom interaction.
