Abstract

This is the first of a two-case series (NAC1604 and NAC1605). Intel released the Pentium microprocessor chip but a professor has discovered a bug in the chip and is talking about it on the Internet. What kind of product support should Intel provide and how should Intel handle what appears to be an ''over-reaction'' to the bug? Case (B) describes the CEO''s initial reaction to the crisis and the consequent reaction from both Internet users and the general public.
