Abstract
This case study analyses the business expansion strategy of Telefonica in Latin America, its 'natural market'. In many respects, Telefonica was a pioneer in transforming itself from a 'local', 'protected' Spanish monopoly to a multi-national company with global ambitions and a strong strategic presence in Latin America. Many Spanish companies followed suit.
