Abstract

Education is not just about knowledge; it's also about developing the social character that prepares people to succeed in society. The leaders of Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) and Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NHP) are showing that it's possible to help some of the most disadvantaged children learn and develop the social character needed to succeed in the world of knowledge work. In this chapter, the author examines these exceptional education leaders and extracts valuable lessons for leaders of knowledge workers.
