Abstract

This case describes the decision to sell, continue or close BR Biomedic Research, owned by Aldo Lopez and Emilio Inda, founders of the business in January 2002. The decision had to be made in less than 15 days whether to continue or close since there was an opportunity to be financed by the Ministry of Economics to do research and development. The engineering team at BR had had personal conflicts with the founders and this created a lack of stability to the organization, causing activities to be stopped for three weeks before the Ministry of Economics got in touch with them. Leadership and conflict management concepts, and the strategies to solve existing conflicts will be used to discuss which decision to make.
