Abstract

This is the fourth of eight mini corporate cases (397-092-1 to 397-098-1 and 301-196-1). The corporate cases recount a short history of the companies'' operations in China. They should be used in conjunction with ''Deng''s Legacy: China On-Line'' (397-091-1) by the same author. Participants are asked to analyse the mini corporate cases in groups. The aim is to provide an understanding of business conditions in the telecommunications sector in a China in transition from a collectivist party state to an authoritarian state, with only regulatory power in the market.
