Abstract

At the end of 2006, Jorge Tanaka was designing a growth strategy for the following year for a cable TV channel. He planned to put it forward to the board of directors of Megacable, a company that competed in cable TV and internet, which later became part of the television industry as one of the most important nationally with multi regional covertures. Video Rola, a channel dedicated to promoting pop music was created in Mexico City and for a Latin audience mainly. It was also transmitted in the US and offered exclusive content, a website and a signal via cell phone. However, the existing technology offered multiple platforms for diversification that Jorge should consider, choose the best option and create a commercial concept for his TV channel in a competed and changing market but with ample possibilities for growth.
