Abstract
Scientific revolutions like biotechnology are only partly about science. Inextricably linked to the science are experiments in institutional arrangements, organizational forms, business models, and management practices. This chapter offers some reflection on the experiments that are going on in biotech board rooms, conference rooms, and all the other places where people dream up new ways of doing business, and makes some suggestions about the institutional changes that may be required to support economically healthy science-based enterprises.
