Abstract

This supplement is to accompany the case ''808-008-1''. The abstract of the case is as follows: Hongfeng Hanhuan is a leadership training company based in Shanghai, China. It was set up in 2003 by Sean Jiang, an MBA graduate with 10 years experience as a professional manager in different industries. Hongfeng remains a one-man show until 2007, when Sean asks two former colleagues to join the company as partners to take it on a path of aggressive growth. They start the new phase very confidently and with high expectations. However, they encountered many unexpected difficulties in the first year. In spite of doing their best to overcome these difficulties, the company reported losses in the first year on revenues that are considerably below budget. At the end of 2007, one of the partners decides to leave Hongfeng, leaving Sean to take stock of the situation and to put in the corrective measures necessary to lead his young company to fight for survival during 2008.
