Abstract

Despite the fact that women these days are highly credentialed, they are not being promoted or advanced at a rate commensurate with their weight in the talent pool. This chapter examines the male competitive career model that excludes or marginalizes so many women and highlights the importance of overturning this model to create alternative pathways to power. This chapter is excerpted from ‘Off-Ramps and On-Ramps: Keeping Talented Women on the Road to Success'.
