Abstract
This technical note explains the concept, and global development of asset portfolio securitisation. It outlines in detail how this works in Spain, as a representative of continental Europe, and in the United States. It also analyses the new approach to securitisation, known as synthetic securitisation, which consists in preventing risk, but not mobilising portfolios.
