About the Kennedy School of Government Case Program at Harvard University

The Case Program is the world's largest producer and repository of case studies designed for teaching about how government works and how public policy is made. Our cases are written to facilitate discussion-based, interactive learning about both policy issues and management strategies in the public and not-for-profit sectors. Our professional casewriters rigorously check the accuracy of the cases, which draw on candid interviews with decision makers themselves, as well as thorough document research. In that way, they represent a detailed and unrivaled body of information about the making of public policy and the administration of public institutions.

The cases are used in the Kennedy School of Government's MPP, MPA and Executive Program curricula, and by colleges and universities worldwide at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The cases are also used by consulting firms looking for detailed and even-handed accounts of issues ranging from privatization to press relations. And, they're used in government and corporate training programs as well.

The Kennedy School case collection features nearly 2,000 cases, sequels/epilogues, and notes, in addition to guides on how to teach and learn by the case method. Whether you're interested in public health or public housing, privatization, re-engineering, or innovation in government, these and dozens of other public sector-related topics are treated in a readable but rigorous way by Kennedy School case studies.
