About The University of St. Gallen

The University of St. Gallen (HSG) was founded as a business academy in 1898 – in the heyday of the St. Gallen embroidery industry and is nowadays a School of Management, Economics, Law, Social Sciences and International Affairs. The first lectures were held in 1899. The faculty members’ key focus is to systematically impart the necessary fundamental knowledge to the students for their Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree or Ph.D. In doing so, they place particular importance on a consistent practical approach and integrative view and provide with the ability to think and act with a focus on networking. The school also hopes to assist the students in developing a sense of initiative and responsibility. Students design their degree courses as entrepreneurs, so to speak. The integrative degree courses have been awarded two international seals of quality with the EQUIS and AACSB accreditations. And thanks to programmes held in English, the HSG is also very popular with students from other countries and unites 80 nationalities under one roof.
