The Case Centre visited ESSEC Business School on Tuesday 15 October, to present the Case Awards 2024 Overall Award and Outstanding Compact Case trophies to Harris Kyriakou.
Harris, an Associate Professor, received his awards from The Case Centre’s Kate Cook, Director of Training and Events, before Roméo Tédongap, Dean of Faculty, and staff at ESSEC’s Paris Cergy Campus.
Professor Tédongap said: “These awards for Harris’ case writing are important because he’s also one of the best researchers in his discipline at ESSEC Business School. Harris’ success shows that pedagogy and research don't have to oppose each other. Each of these activities enhance the value of teaching, and our teachers’ experiences in the classroom with their students can inspire research ideas. Harris is a great example of this, and we’re very proud that he’s won both awards.”
Harris won the Overall Award and Outstanding Compact Case categories thanks to his case ChatGPT vs Google and the Future of Search, which focused on employee concerns at Google that the company’s lack of a chatbox service was leaving them behind.
Harris commented: “Winning the award and the competition means a lot to me, and feels like the culmination of many years of striving to improve my effectiveness as a case teacher. It is truly satisfying that so many colleagues in top schools and around the world find the case valuable for their own teaching and for enriching their students' learning journeys.”
Harris’ success makes it two Overall prizes for ESSEC after their first win in the category in 2019, with their total Case Awards count standing at five.
Kate added: “It’s a pleasure to be at ESSEC and recognise Harris’ Case Awards achievements. To win in two categories is testament to the quality of Harris’ case writing.”
