Yelp, a San Francisco based local guide for businesses was founded in the year 2004 by Jeremy Stoppelman (Stoppelman) and Russel Simmons (Simmons). Yelp had evolved by the way of getting customers to write reviews about local business enterprises and engaging them via social media platforms. Yelp also forayed into new avenues such as restaurant reservations, thus posing a threat to competitors such as Google. But the review site soon slipped into trouble in the year 2015, due to the reduction in its user base. The review portal was also accused of manipulating reviews.
