Post-announcement of new FDI policy by the federal government, ABC electronics ltd, a public sector undertaking under ministry of defence, Govt of India is anticipating the change in competitive landscape. A supplier of varied products and allied services in electronic communication systems to all forms of defence, has always enjoyed a favourable ecosystem thus has captive clients. At this point of time when the sector is likely to open up to new players what should be the next course of action? The brain storming sessions and the resultant SWOT analysis is clearly hinting out that current approach of being reactive and supply oriented, needs transition. However there is a dilemma regarding the current orientation of the firm whether or not it is market oriented. The study by Prof Bhargav, in this regard, suggest various findings which need to be understood in the context of ABC and how the same can be incorporated and further help the firm to face the foreseeable threat.
