Abstract
In late 2011, after being besieged by social-media-based competitors, leading online job-matching company TheLadders (TLD) prepared to undergo a fundamental transition. Alex Douzet became CEO just as innovations in mobile technology promised to upend the industry. Douzet knew that mobile was a threat to TLD’s traditional desktop-based offering but believed that with the right strategy, the company could benefit from this disruptive technological change.
