Abstract
This is the part of a case series. Providing high quality services throughout Europe to middle market clients is essential if Big Six auditor Wolf Fenner is to achieve its goal; become lead auditor to this growth sector. How can Wolf Fenner effectively achieve this when local clients still account for the bulk of each practice's business, when significant differences exist between cultures, customer sets and traditional ways of operating, and when the middle market itself seems to be comprised of different segments and requirements? Who within Wolf Fenner should design and implement these guidelines, which services are best provided locally and which could more effectively designed and delivered on a pan-European basis? What role should headquarters play, what initiatives have already been launched by the country practices? What changes in structures, skills and systems will enable Wolf Fenner to deliver consistent services on a pan-European basis?
