Abstract

The launch of Eden McCallum at the turn of the third millennia introduced a new business model in the consulting world. This network-based consulting firm founded by Liann Eden (Liann) and Dena McCallum (Dena) did not have a large headquarters which brought along the overheads associated with a conventional consulting firm, but instead retained a minimal central staff and utilised a network of freelance consultants. These consultants were largely experienced alums from one of the big consulting firms who were looking for more flexibility and control in their careers in the dot-com era. Eden McCallum was a win-win option for these consultants as well as the clients who got to choose whom they wanted to work with at lower costs and flexible time frames. The firm soon went on to become the second largest consultancy in London next only to McKinsey. Experts wondered whether Eden McCallum would be able to retain this position and take further advantage of this business model.
