Abstract
Google had a reputation for being a place in which internal debates on all topics were welcome, even encouraged. However, conflicts sometimes arose between interest groups. In June 2018, in the wake of an employee's anti-diversity posting on an internal company website, Google issued new guidelines for dialogue inside the company that would lead to discipline for those employees who engage in discussions that are 'disruptive to a productive work environment.' The example of Google raises questions about how companies with a commitment to openness as part of its core culture should discuss sensitive topics-especially with voluminous internal and social media channels.
