Abstract

Ruiz Foods Inc, (Ruiz Foods) was founded by Fred and Louis Ruiz in 1964, at Dinuba, California, which grew to become America's number one Mexican frozen foods manufacturer. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had severely disrupted the food infrastructure as shortage of nutritious food was further impacted by labour shortages, fragmented supply chains and concerns over health hazards. Under the circumstances, it had become imperative for those handling the food processes to rigorously follow hygienic and sanitisation practices. Ruiz Foods produced authentically made premium frozen foods for distribution through retailers, convenience stores, club stores, vending machines besides industrial and food service channels. With the arrival of the pandemic, Ruiz Foods carried out a wide-ranging transformation by identifying sales and marketing opportunities, operational improvements and carrying out refinement of administrative framework. The crucial modernisation of operations was achieved through a corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Further, it planned to integrate technologies like AI, Machine Learning, IoT, and Blockchain, Autonomous database besides cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM and Procurement/Treasury applications. Moreover, by partnering with AuditBoard, the company streamlined and improved working of remote team. Would Ruiz Foods' bottom-up approach for technological transformation script sustainable business growth?
