Abstract
The case focuses on the need for the successful implementation of information systems in insurance organisations. It examines the reasons for failure in designing, developing and implementing effective information systems. The case explores the possible loopholes in information systems planning and discusses how auditing can help a company identify those loopholes. It also throws light on the groundwork necessary for implementing information systems. The case is structured to enable students to: (1) understand the importance of information systems planning; (2) analyse the reasons for the failure of information systems in insurance organisations; (3) understand the need for proper groundwork before the implementation of information systems; and (4) understand the role of auditing in identifying and solving problems. The case is intended for MBA/PGDBM level students as part of the management of insurance companies and insurance operations curricula.
