This case focuses on the process by which Popular, Inc, the bank holding company for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, has become internationalised. The bank has grown through acquisitions and has expanded outside of its Puerto Rican home market into the United States mainland, the Caribbean, and Central America. Banco Popular has developed a distinct competitive advantage in each of the regions in which it operates.
