Abstract
The case describes the Lex Service Group's acquisition and management of hotels in the UK and USA. This is one of a series of diversification moves by a company which has been dependent on the distribution of cars and commercial vehicles. The case also describes future plans for the company in the hotel sector. The purpose of the case is to allow analysis of the logic of moving into hotels, to evaluate the success of the hotel operation to 1977, and to determine whether the future proposed strategy seems viable.
