Abstract
This case describes the main policy issues in a medium sized company as it copes, for better and worse, with the major decisions during the relatively few years of its active life. Britten-Norman Limited commenced manufacturing aircraft in 1965, effectively ceasing when placed in the hands of the Receiver on 22nd October, 1971. Here we have the history of the company from the cradle to the grave, seen very much through the eyes of the men who first created and then ran the corporate body. The students are asked to use their power of analysis, to identify why and what went wrong, and are also asked to look ahead, to be creative and decide what action they themselves would take in the future. The tutor''s guide makes specific recommendations about the different ways to use this case.
