Abstract
As well as a general policy review, the directors of the Royal Bank of Scotland are concerned with what to do about the Bank''s Savings Stamps scheme. Apparently losing money (though how to evaluate contribution is a major issue in the case as it was with bank discussions) the outcome largely depends upon the view taken of the future of the market for personal finance and the banks role in it. Together with Royal Bank of Scotland (A) (573-050-1) the case provides all the data needed to show how difficult the most simple commercial propositions can be. On request, the authors are prepared to tell instructors what happened. The Royal Bank of Scotland (B) case has not been written.
