Yinscape attempted a friendly takeover last summer, but it was fended off by Yangsearch's board. The eventual takeover has taken a lot of effort and has been under intense scrutiny, partly by regulators but mostly by financial and industry analysts, the majority of whom have yet to decide whether this deal is a good thing or not. Their main concern is that putting together two 'number twos' does not necessarily create a winner, particularly given the many differences between the two firms.
