Abstract

This case follows Dr Angela Settle, DNP of the West Virginia Health Right, a free and charitable clinic in Charleston, WV that serves more than 28,000 uninsured and underinsured patients. After helping people in rural areas of WV during the deadly floods of 2016, Dr Settle was inspired to provide care beyond the four walls of the clinic. The mobile dental unit was one of the first of its kind and served six counties in rural West Virginia. The case illustrates how Dr Settle led the creation of a mobile dental unit and her ongoing struggle to ensure its sustainability while also addressing the ongoing deficits in oral health coverage policy in West Virginia. This case has been made available free of charge.
