Abstract
Singapore-based investment manager Panarchy Partners developed the Asia Gigaton Fund to deliver environmental impact - 1 gigaton of incremental emissions reductions - through its investments in Asian public equities. Since impact should be intentional, measurable, and directly attributable to the investment, the case explores how Panarchy Partners combined emissions-based screening criteria with a robust Theory of Change and engagement strategy. Students will gain exposure to concepts around impact investing and portfolio construction; use of the environmental and financial data in the online supplement enable students to test their ideas on how to achieve the desired gigaton of attributable, incremental emissions reductions.
